Join the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering in Mannheim and visit the famous Heidelberg Castle nearby. The Rhine Neckar triangle is economically flourishing and a vibrating cultural melting pot, especially the city of Mannheim. Choose between several packages such as summer school, exchange semester or international Winter-Term depending on the time you want to spend in Germany. If you are a professor, gain teaching experience or work in innovative projects as a researcher.

Summer School

Solution methods for ordinary differential equations. First order equations, linear equations, and constant coefficient equations. Eigenvalue methods for systems of first order linear equations. Introduction to stability and phase plane analysis. Laplace transforms and series solutions to ordinary differential equations.

Students will know the challenges and fields of action for designing global production and value-add-ing networks and will have knowledge of common methods and approaches for planning and control-ling these strategically and operationally.

Summer School students will be tasked with lecture specific project work.

Discrete event simulation of production systems is used to measure system performance based on process models. Topics include model formulation, performance evaluation, and data collection.

Fundamentals of Product Management, Methods of finding, analyzing and evaluation of industrial goods markets.

Summer School students enter this course for the pratical part and will solve case studies and industry projects in working groups.

Students learn to understand the background of globalization, the interrelationships and characteristics of international management, and the opportunities and risks of internationalization for companies.

They are able to explain and analyze and compare the particular fundamentals of the corporate strategy of various globally operating companies in the past.Students get familiar with the specific challenges of international business development relevant for product development, techniques for  successful planning, implementation and control.

Summer School students will take part in lectures and project work (case studies).

Have fun in learning fundamentals of the German language for speaking skills, comprehension, pronunciation, and understanding the culture. You will join practical exercises i.e. in how to use public transport, order in a shop or restaurant.

Cultural programme or company tour included. Mandatory for all participants.

Learn differences in element types and choose right element for calculations. Understand procedures in a finite element software and be able to verify and interpret results.

Learn methods of computer based materials design and develp material databases. Simulate materials properties and design manufacturing processes.

Learn about characteristics of laser beams, laser light and safety. Get to know machine tolls for laser processing (drilling, cutting, welding, heat treatment an gernative processes).

Get capable to set up Python programs from given model equations. Learn about numerical libraries and their application on simple numerical tasks to overcome important mathematical obstacles in mechanical engineering problems. Verify calculations, solve mathematical models and simulate technical problems. 

module description ANM

 

Gain expertise in the field of computational fluid dynamics: setting up simulations, performing computations, post-processing of results and adaption of the simulation sotware to requirements. Learn to use open-source software OpenFOAM.

Visit German course according the result of you placement test with language center of Hochschule Mannheim.

Exchange Semester - individually planned

As a student/postgraduate or PhD student of one of our partner universities you could join us for one or more terms outside the programmes, individually planned.

Discuss options and transferability of credits with your coordinator and contact us early, at least 1 year before planned stay. There are different options:

  • joining lectures and exams (good German language skills, DSH 2 or equivalent necessary)
  • working as an intern in one of our institutes
  • working as an intern in a local company
  • edit thesis topic
  • other ideas to be discussed with you

Additional Information for Erasmus+ exchange students

If your home university has a bilateral Erasmus+ agreement with Hochschule Mannheim you can be nominated as an exchange student.

As a professor or teacher you have many opportunities to gain teaching experience with us. Taking over a lecture in Summer School or at the International Semester could be discussed. Please check existing exchange programmes at your home university.

There may also be funding programmes from institutions in Germany that could be a fit. Let´s discuss your ideas and suggestions. To ensure a good organisation we should start planning, course, funding etcetera, at least one year before the planned stay.
